The LittlestPage turned five a couple of weeks ago. People always told me the time would go by fast. When I had four five and under, I was convinced it wasn’t going fast enough. Now I’m standing on the downhill side of my parenting (though I’m very near the top) and wishing I could go back. I’m wishing I had taken the advice of those further ahead and tried to find the time to relish every moment, every hug, every set of sticky finger prints, every Lego waiting for a midnight attack because while the moments may seem endless, the time really does fly by.
This year the LittlestPage wanted a fairy birthday and I actually got it together enough to plan for a craft. (Of course we didn’t actually make the craft until a week after her birthday, but better late than never!)
We started out with some supplies very loosely based on these instructions.
The children worked their imaginations and created some lovely fairies.
Lil MisterIQ’s Peter Pan Fairy

Tiggerific’s Flying Wood Sprite

And the birthday girl’s Blue Winged Fairy

As the children wondered what they might do with their finished products, I had a creative flash of genius. I’m trying to collect decorations for every season and so we pilfered a lovely branch from our backyard and put together a Flower Fairy Doorhanger.
