The children went for their biannual dental visits this morning. When I was a kid I dreaded the dentist – the smell, the screaming, the pain – but my children actually look forward to this event. Of course nowadays there doesn’t seem to be as many chemicals and the ones they use are bubblegum flavoured, sealants seem to prevent the need for so much drilling and only very recently did our oldest discover the joy of spittle dripping down a numb frozen lip! And even then she still likes to make this pilgrimage. She says it makes her teeth feel sparkly!
The news today was fairly good. Doviegirl finally got a referral to the orthodontist. It wasn’t a surprise. One of her canines has failed to make an appearance. Lil Mister IQ still has twelve baby teeth which may be problematic if they don’t start falling out soon. (My children never want to get rid of anything!) Tiggerific needs to get two pits filled (oh those dreaded pits!) and he is probably headed for orthodontic work as well. The oldest and the youngest are doing just fine.
I’m glad we have such a great dental clinic at the top of the block. I’m glad my children do not view this as a traumatic experience. Most of all I’m glad Kirby’s work insurance picks up the bill!
