I have over twenty books waiting on my shelf for me to read and enjoy. After a discussion on one of my home school boards, I thought I would share my list here.

Here are some I’m working on right now:
Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness by Jon Kabat-Zinn
Wherever You Go, There You Are also by Jon Kabat-Zinn
Loving Kindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness by Sharon Salzberg
Time Management from the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern
Kitchen Table Wisdom: Stories that Heal by Rachel Naomi Remen, MD
Me to We: Finding Meaning in a Material World by Craig and Marc Kielburger
Here are a few that my children asked me to read so we can share the adventure:
Tales from Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan
Confession Of An Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Here are some I am reading for educational purposes (mine and my children’s)
The Canon: A Whirligig Tour of the Beautiful Basics of Science by Natalie Angier
Gilgamesh: A New Rendering in English Verse by David Ferry
The Lives of a Cell: Notes of a Biology Watcher by Lewis Thomas

I just finished a fantasy trilogy called ‘The The Fionavar Tapestry” by Guy Gavriel Kay. Who I only learned afterwards was born in Weyburn, Sask and raised in Winnipeg. To be honest, I learned it about 5 seconds ago when I googled to learn how to spell his name.
His writing style is very influenced by Tolkien (he helped to edit the Silmarilion) which was a tad distracting at the very beginning, but then you get used to it right away.
I enjoyed the story very much from both an action packed adventure and emotional depth of characters angle. My only beef was the prevalence of s3x (how do you type that to avoid weird searches?) and a disturbing rape scene (that was actually more disturbing because it wasn’t explicit). I’m not so discerning in the “how’s it going to end” forecasting, so I enjoyed how the story rolled out and was regularly surprised by the twists.
It was a nice fictional respite from the preggie books that I’m now going back to!
I think it’d be fun to hear your quick reviews on the books you’re reading as you get through them (or decide to put them down). Nothing in-depth, just the yay or nay and major points of like or dislike. (What a unique idea that I just had all on my own and has never been explored in this blog before!)
